You'll find a special “goodie” at the bottom of every page, with two different sets of goodies available. You'll choose one when you order.

Goodies Set A

Three different goodies, Set A is the original set:

Words of Wisdom: From Plato and Sophocles to Yogi Berra and Marilyn Vos Savant, you'll find interesting quotes about games and play.

Name the Game: You know the rules to many games, but can you name a game by seeing just a single rule? Name the Game provides a game rule from the published English-language rules from a strategy game, and you're challenged to name the source. Some are fairly easy, while others are much more difficult. The answers are provided a couple of pages further into the journal.

Spiel Spotter: You've seen the box covers, with the name of the game emblazoned in bright colors across the front and on every side. Here, you're presented with a couple of letters right off the box, but there's no color to guide you, and any portions of surrounding letters have been removed—see an example with the surrounding partial letters below left, without them below right. Can you figure out the source? The answers are provided a couple of pages further into the journal.

 

Goodies Set B

In addition to some Words of Wisdom, Set B primarily includes:

Game Face: The human mind has a powerful ability to remember faces. As with Spiel Spotter, above, you've seen the boxes: can you remember where these faces come from, especially now that they're in black and white? Faces come from English-language ediitions, with few exceptions. Backgrounds behind the faces may be blurred or removed to highlight the face and, sometimes to remove easy clues. The answers are found a few pages further into the journal.
